About

AboutAboutAbout
OBJECTIVE
Establish a fund to serve as the primary monetary resource specifically for Black Americans identified as the direct descendants of Black slaves.

The Objective will be accomplished by the execution of a intentional, coordinated and continuous effort by Black Americans to donate recyclable aluminum cans and plastic bottles to identified WECANBlackAmerica receiving locations throughout the country. Materials will be collected and redeemed by Quander & Son, a Black Owned, Certified Recycler based in Twentynine Palms, California.

No Division
Black Americans are not a monolith. Many tools have been utilized to bring about division within our community: religion, sexuality, political affiliation, geographical region, economical status. The WECANBlackAmerica Project is founded with the vision of inclusion for ALL Black Americans. Specific criterion will be announced in the coming weeks defining "Black American"; however, the Advisory Council will be tasked with establishing a working definition, so that we may immediately engage in the redistribution of wealth.

THE FACTS
  • Dr. Claude Anderson, suggests that Black Americans incorporate a "Powernomics" philosophy that involves Black Americans pool, monetize and redistribute resources to develop Black Wealth in America
  • Black Americans must take responsibility in establishing a self-sustaining Black Economy to build Black wealth and the foundations of Black Community
  • Black Californians throw away approximately $18 billion dollars in recyclables annually
PROBLEMS
  • Black businesses, institutions, organizations, families and individuals require direct access to money and organizational support to re-build the infrastructures of Black Community
  • A unified and coordinated effort is required to develop a "Community Chest" of funds and resources specifically for Black Americans with a vested interest in the development of a self-sustaining Black Economy
SOLUTION

the WECANBlackAmerica Project
A 152 day project, January 19 to June 19, 2021, for 1,000,000 Black Americans to donate 10 lbs of recyclable aluminum and 10 lbs of recyclable plastic bottles, that will be redeemed with Quander & Son, a Black Owned, Certified Recycling Company based in Twentynine Palms, California.

60% of funds garnered by the redemption of collected materials will be deposited into a WECAN BlackAmerica Fund, held at a certified Black Owned Bank. A panel of vetted Black professionals and elders, will redistribute the funds to Black businesses, institutions, organizations, individuals and interests that will contribute to the establishment of a self-sufficient Black Economy in America-  A GREEN PATH to Black Wealth.

the WECANBlackAmerica Fund
The fund will primarily serve as a fiscal resource specifically for Black Americans with abilities, products, goods, services and vision that can impact the establishment of a self-sustaining Black Economy in America. Managed by a Board of vetted Black Professionals and elders, 60% of the fund will go directly to Black people, while the remaining 40% will be used for operational costs of the WECANBlackAmerica Fund and its business interests.

Who Gets The Money
Black Americans will be the sole beneficiaries of all monies from the WECAN Project and Fund. The Advisory Council will be tasked with overseeing the equitable distribution of all monies earmarked for Black Americans, institutions and communities.

There are several levels of participation by which Black Americans and our allies may participate:

  • Level I- Individual- Black Americans/Allies
    • All Americans are encouraged to participate at the individual level. Take the pledge. Get your 1st order or trash bags and labels. Labels will be the identifying marker, to indicate if a bag has come from a Black American or Ally. Black American's labels will be entered into a lottery system. Shortly after the launch event, on Saturday, June 19, 2021, the Advisory Council will be tasked with determining precisely how much each selected participant will be entitled and the appropriate vehicles and methods for distribution.

  • Level II- Community Organizations/Small Businesses (1-100 employees)
    • Community organizations are encouraged to demonstrate their recognition and support of the Black dollar by taking the pledge and getting bags. Appropriate entities may purchase a pair of Official WECAN Trash Receptacles, which includes a supply of trash bags and labels. Labels will identify the contributing entity. Black organizations and Black owned businesses will be identified and eligible for benefits generated from the WECANBlackAmerica Fund

  • Level III- Corporate (101+ employees)

REDISTRIBUTION OF RESOURCES
This is the first fund specifically designated by and for Black Americans. A counsel of Black finance and business professionals, attorneys, educators, community leaders and elders will be formed to determine the most fair and expeditious ways and means to distribute funds among vetted Black Americans.

"The Counsel" will be tasked with overseeing the proper use of funds, identify and vet candidates to receive fiscal support and provide guidance to the organization overall.

As we encourage all Black Americans to donate their recyclables; accordingly, we will contribute support and resources specifically to Black entrepreneurs, businesses, institutions, organizations and individuals with demonstrated commitment to empowering and solidifying Black community.
